I-65 crash claims life of Pell City man in Chilton County

MONTGOMERY POST — A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. Friday, May 3, has claimed the life of a Pell City man. Justin D. Washington, 36, a passenger in the 2022 GMC Savana van, was fatally injured when the van left the roadway, struck a cable barrier and overturned. Washington was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the van, Karlmarick J. Thompson, 23, of Birmingham, was also injured and transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 212 mile marker, approximately one mile north of Clanton, in Chilton County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
