Donny Martin of the Clanton Lions Club is currently taking eyeglasses donations to contribute to the Alabama Lions Sight program. Martin has currently collected 445 pairs of eyeglasses, and has a goal of 500 pairs before taking them to donate in Birmingham on March 13.

Donations are being taken until March 12, and glasses can be brought to Martin Funeral Home in Clanton.

“If you have old eyeglasses, please bring them in,” Martin said.

Since 1944, the Alabama Lions Sight program has helped more than 300,000 people throughout the state, according to the program’s website.
