The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles caught up on releasing their minutes from December earlier this week, and their minutes on Dec. 12 and Dec. 14 featured offenders with charges in Chilton County.

On Dec. 12, William Earl Brakefield III was denied parole by the board with a reset date of August 2024. Tommy Bilings, Brakefield’s stepfather, spoke in favor of him being granted parole, and Nayla Contreras of the Attorney General’s Office spoke against parole being granted.

Brakefield has served nearly 19 years of a 25-year sentence for concurrent charges, including a Robbery I offense in Chilton County on July 11, 2003.

Major Franklin IV was also denied parole by the board on Dec. 12, but he did not receive a reset date. Franklin is serving a 15-year sentence from a Violation of Sex Offender Registry List arrest in Montgomery county, and also a concurrent 42-month sentence after a Possession/Controlled Substance charge in Chilton County on April 26, 2023.

On Dec. 14, Justin Dock Cleckler was denied parole by the board, but received a reset date of May 2024. Leslie Knox, Cleckler’s cousin, spoke during the hearing on behalf of parole being granted.

Cleckler has a history of 11 charges all in Chilton County, with the most recent being Distribution of Controlled Substance and Theft of Property III charges that are being served concurrently on an 81-month sentence.
