Robert Lee Jennings Sr.

Robert Lee Jennings, Sr. (“Bob”), 83 passed away surrounded by family at his Lake Mitchell home in Clanton, AL, December 3, 2023. He was born March 6, 1940, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, at an early age, where he was raised by his endearing aunt and uncle, Corinne and Emmett Fulmer. Bob graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1958 and attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He was a passionate Roll Tide fan and was often referred to as “Bama Bob”. He was also a veteran and spent time in Korea. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his retirement years living at the Lake Mitchell home “Heaven Place”. Bob’s greatest legacy and achievement is his family. A loving husband to his dear wife Nancy of sixty-three years, a wonderful and devoted father to seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and one great grandson.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Louise Sales Jennings and Benjamin Frank Jennings of Clinton, Oklahoma; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Jennings McCullar (“Lisa”); and grandson, Carlton McCullar of Pensacola, Florida. He leaves his beautiful wife, Nancy Newton Jennings, mother of their seven children; Louise Jennings McCullar (David), Lisa Jennings McCullar (David), Linda Jennings Pontseele (Thomas), Rita Jennings Bullard (John), Robert L. Jennings, Jr. (Donna), William Newton Jennings (Lindsay), Howard Whitney Jennings (Ashley); grandchildren, Channy McCullar, Warner McCullar, Robert McCullar, Laney Pontseele, Mary Elizabeth Bullard, John Carson Bullard, Mitchell Jennings, Sidney Kate Jennings, Will Jennings, Hutch Jennings, Camp Jennings, Sydney Jennings, Ward Jennings; and great grandson, Easton McCullar.
Bob was loved and loved well. He taught us how to live a full life and love one another. We will remember all the great memories and lessons of how to live, love, laugh, and how to fish, a valuable lesson; give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach him to fish, feed him for life. Bob was a friend to all he met and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He loved God, his family, and lived a wonderful and full life.
The family is grateful to the VA, doctors, nurses, and loving angels who helped keep him with us these last few years.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life ceremony at a later date.
