The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Clanton Branch will host “The Nativity Story” — a free drive-in movie for the community on Dec. 15 at 6:00 p.m. The event will include hot chocolate and popcorn for viewers to enjoy during the film. Organizers are hopeful that the movie will help the community turn their thoughts to Christ in preparation for the Christmas season.

“We are excited to invite the community to join us in watching ‘The Nativity Story,’” said Stake President Barry Sadler. “This short film recounts the nativity story found in the Bible. It depicts the journey with Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, the awe of the shepherds on Judea’s plains, and the joy of the wise men as they kneel before the Light of the World—the Savior Jesus Christ.”

Sound will be broadcast for the drive-in movie over an FM radio station that will be announced at the event. Individuals that wish to bring a blanket and sit on the lawn are welcome, but will need to bring a portable FM radio for the transmission. Chairs are discouraged in order to optimize visibility.

The film is for all ages and families, but there are some scenes of peril with Herrod’s soldiers running through the streets, giving it a PG rating.

“This movie shares the true story of Christmas as described in the Bible,” Jill Norris, Director of Communication for Birmingham, said. “It tries to be historically accurate, while still being an emotionally uplifting and spiritually powerful film. It is a great opportunity for Christians of all denominations to share their common faith and love for the Savior of the World.”

The drive-in will be held at 813 Temple Road, Clanton, and it is a rain or shine event.
