AOTW: Jackson piles up 240 yards rushing against Tallassee

Chilton County High School’s D.J. Jackson is this week’s athlete of the week after his performance against Tallassee High School on Sept. 29. Jackson paced the Tigers’ offense on the road to the tune of 240 rushing yards on 12 carries, a 20 yards per carry average, and punched in two touchdowns.
After a slow first half, Jackson was a catalyst in the second half where CCHS outscored Tallassee 21-6 and powered their way back to .500 on the 2023 football season with a matchup against Benjamin Russell High School on the horizon.
Honorable mention: Eli Kendrick, Isabella High School
Isabella High School’s senior quarterback had another stellar game on Sept. 29 against Billingsley totaling over 300 yards for the second consecutive game, and for the third time this season. Kendrick had 305 total yards with 130 of those on the ground on 12 carries. He was 10-for-17 passing for 175 yards and completed a pass to six different receivers with a touchdown pass.
Honorable mention: D.J. Caffey, Demarcus Riddick and Andre Underwood, Chilton County High School
The Chilton County defensive trio of D.J. Caffey, Demarcus Riddick and Andre Underwood led the Tigers’ defense to hold a shutout over Tallassee until the last seconds of the game on Sept. 29. Each of the three defenders had 12 tackles in the 28-6 win.
