Isabella High School welcomed their alumni back for their diamond anniversary 75th Homecoming in the school’s history.

The week was full of in-school activities leading up the Mustangs’ Sept. 15 football game against Central of Coosa County High School. Isabella cruised to a 63-0 win in front of their home crowd.

Prior to the win, an Alumni Homecoming Reception in the school’s cafeteria was held that recognized the past IHS Homecoming Queens and graduating classes that end with the number three.

“We do this every year, before homecoming we have an alumni reception, and whatever year it is, those are the years we honor,” IHS assistant principal Marjorie Littleton said.

Thirty-five alumni signed the visitor’s book, and along with their guests, Littleton estimates there were around 60-70 people who attended the reception. 29 past homecoming queens were also in attendance.

Littleton, who used to teach at Isabella, moved on to teach at a few different schools before returning in 2020 to be the assistant principal. She did not graduate as a Mustang, but she has found her roots to be inside the IHS walls now.

“I came to Chilton County 33 years ago, so it is home to me,” Littleton said. “Unfortunately, I did not go to high school here. My husband graduated from Isabella in 1980, and all four of my children graduated from Isabella in the early 2000s. It is home for me.”

Littleton, along with the school’s faculty and staff, played a huge role in hosting the reception by making food, helping decorate and set up before it and serving the alumni during it.

In the end, it all goes back to making sure the alumni understand they are appreciated for Littleton and the faculty and staff.

“It is just a way to honor our alumni,” Littleton said. “It really is a school-wide event. It is a great day to be a Mustang.”
