The Bearded Peach in Clanton received approval from the Clanton City Council on March 27 for a preliminary agreement giving the business an ABC special event license.
The license would allow the business to sell alcoholic beverages in a designated area at Peach Jam Jubilee in June. Those purchasing drinks would have to stay in the designated area until they were finished.
Approval was given unanimously by the council members who were presents. Council member Don Driver was absent.
Alcoholic beverages have been available in the Peach Jam VIP tent in previous years.
Also, during the March 27 meeting, the council:
- Appointed Mayor Jeff Mims and Troy Rutherford to the Chilton County Airport Authority.
- Adopted a revised classification pay plan, which included a two percent pay raise.
- Declaring miscellaneous items as surplus to sell or otherwise get rid of them.
- Amended and ratified the City of Clanton’s current depositories.
