The Thorsby City Council approved the resignation and approval of parks and recreation director for the city at its meeting on Feb. 6. Councilman Justin Killingsworth’s letter of resignation from the position was approved unanimously by the council. Killingsworth was absent from the meeting.

The council then appointed Angie Caudle to the position by a unanimous vote.

The council approved unanimously to amend ordinance 02-17-14 to include additional roads to have no through trucks come down them. Concordia Street from U.S. Highway 31 to Franklin Street, Alabama Avenue from Concordia Street to County Road 29, Montgomery Avenue to North Dakota Road and Franklin Street from U.S. Highway 31 to the Thorsby city limits were added to the ordinance to not allow through trucks.

The amended ordinance will not affect garbage truck routes or postal trucks using the roads.

The Thorsby Fire Department announced they are getting a grant application together for a new ambulance to replace the old one. TFD also had a bid approved unanimously by the council to purchase a new Ford F-150 emergency truck for the station. The truck will be used for storm rescues, small inspection calls and other emergency calls.

TFD is sending the old emergency truck to Thorsby City Works to be used in their fleet.

Mayor Robert Hight said the move of Thorsby City Hall to the old River Bank & Trust building on Highway 31 is being delayed due to internet and phone line delays at the new location. A new move-in date will be determined in the coming weeks.

Also, during the meeting, the Council:

• Approved a new part-time officer and reserve officer for the Thorsby Police Department.
• Approved to send annual grants in for road resurfacing projects.
• Approved a new water tank maintenance plan that was ordered from the state.
