The National Weather Service in Birmingham has included Chilton County in a multi-county
hazardous weather outlook for Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.
The outlook warns that “Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible after 11 p.m. tonight
across the southern portions of Central Alabama. Damaging winds are the main threat, but a
tornado cannot be ruled out.”
Winds up to 40 mph are expected even in areas where thunderstorms do not develop.
Southern Chilton County, including parts of Clanton, Verbena and Maplesville, is the area predicted to see severe weather. Estimated time frame is
between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Areas north of Clanton are not projected to receive
severe weather.
