LeCroy Career Technical Center has received $1,000 from the Chilton Education Foundation that it will use for the health science program.

Dr. Shannon Walker, LCTC principal and Chilton County Schools Career Tech supervisor, said the funds will be used to purchase a venipuncture arm.

The arm-shaped device “shows blood flow in the arm, and it shows them how to give shots, (take a patient’s) blood pressure,” Walker said.

A wheelchair will also be purchased.

“The wheelchair is going to be used to show them proper ways to transport to and from the bed and from one area in the room to another,” Walker said.

Rex Bittle, Chilton Education Foundation board member, said the COVID-19 pandemic had presented obstacles to its annual Partners Enhancing Education in Chilton County grant program, but the board is moving forward with getting information to principals about how teachers can apply this year.

“We usually do it in the very early spring, February or March,” Bittle said.
