Kids First Bridge of Hope Ministry recognized YMCA of Chilton County CEO Lori Patterson, Clanton Police Department Chief Erick Smitherman and James Talley as this year’s Seeds of Kindness Leadership award honorees on Jan.16.
Margaret Cindy Hawkins of Kids First said each of the honorees was chosen for helping children in Chilton County.
The Seeds of Kindness Leadership awards are given to City, Community, and a Youth Leader that has freely shown love for the children in our community.
The recognition was a part of the annual Seeds of Kindness Family Fun Day of Service which helps raise and promote positive community and leadership awareness, encourages youth and friends to share their talents and gifts literally through giving service back to the community by Oscar and Margaret Cindy Hawkins of Kids First Bridge of Hope Ministry and some caring friends.
Hawkins said she enjoys hosting the fun day in order to give the families to have something to do together.
“We had a good turnout,” Margaret Hawkins said.
The day started with fun basketball game at the YMCA and moved to historic West End Neighborhood for its community service project, which fed 180 youth, seniors and friends. Community prayer was also held, and a band provided live music throughout the event.
