Cross Road Missionary Baptist Church of Verbena will host their fifteenth annual women’s conference Saturday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. The theme, “Denim and Pearls” is meant to inspire and give encouragement to all women during 2023 and will be based from the scripture Psalm 34:1-10.

“We get so busy with our daily lives that it is important to take time out for God,” said Conference Coordinator, Eddie Mae Gilder. ‘Denim and Pearls’ will be about recharging and basking in the presence of God to get us through 2023. We want all women to come, especially those that are struggling and going through something difficult. Christian women that already have a church home are welcome to attend as well.   I hope that a variety of women will come to worship together.”

Women are encouraged to wear denim and pearls to align with this year’s theme. The conference is free and will include praise and worship music, a skit, Guest speaker Dr. Takecia Barlow of Montgomery and door prizes followed by a full-spread banquet lunch at noon.

“I want women to come out together and have a good time,” said Gilder. “Every year, I love hearing the uplifting songs and seeing the enjoyment women get from this conference. We are going to have a great time in the Lord and bask in his presence.”

Eddie Mae Gilder is married to Cross Road Pastor Andrew Gilder. The couple have been appointed to the church for 15 years.

“My favorite part is seeing the women enjoy it,” said Eddie Mae. “Everyone will leave with some enjoyment and hope they have gained from attending. If you are looking to be in the presence of God or feeling like everything is going wrong and there is nowhere to turn, this is for you.”
