Two Chilton County residents died in a structure fire at 2015 Lay Dam Road on Sept. 20.

Clanton Fire Department and the Clanton Police Department responded to the fire at 1:15 a.m. after a call had been made to 911 by a neighbor.

“Upon arrival, a residential structure was found to be fully involved. The fire was extinguished by CFD without further damage to nearby structures,” Clanton Police Department information states. “During the initial investigation, the bodies of people were found inside the residence, one male and one female.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by CFD, CPD, Alabama State Fire Marshall and ATF.
