Chilton County Schools has announced it will return to its traditional format for school in August 2021.

“Chilton County Schools will have on campus instruction with no online learning option for the 2021-2022 school year,” Chilton County Schools Superintendent Jason Griffin said. “The reopening plan is available for review on the system website at www.chiltonboe.com or you can pick up a copy at any school location or central office.  You will have an opportunity to provide feedback via email on the website or you can provide written input at any school location through June 30.”

Enrolling in the Virtual School is still an option for ninth through 12th grade students as a year long commitment. Parents and guardians should contact their child’s school for more information.

The reopening plan for the school system states that face masks will be optional, just as they had been when the 2019-2020 school year that ended earlier this month.

Air filtration systems will continue to be used, and hand sanitizer will be available.

Libraries, cafeterias, playgrounds and water fountains will be open for use.

However, “Guests will not be allowed on campus at this time. All conferences and required meetings may be conducted virtually. School based administrators have the authority to give access to guests for safety and operation of the school,” according to the plan.

Administration stated that the plan was developed “based on guidance from the Alabama Department of Education and the Alabama Department of Public Health.”

“Chilton County Schools’ Plan to Reopening focuses on the health and physical requirements necessary for reopening our buildings to our students. We will continue to provide guidance and recommendations to schools on navigating the academic, social and emotional effects of COVID-19 pandemic on our students and staff,” the plan states.
