The 2018 Thorsby Swedish Festival is upon us, with a host of events scheduled for Oct. 6 and 13.
The beauty pageant will kick things off on Oct. 6 in the Thorsby High School Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Five new Swedish Queens will be crowned from the categories of miss, junior miss, young miss, little miss and tiny miss.
A 5K Viking Fun Run will begin at 8 a.m. on Oct. 13. Runners will take part on a moderately level course through the streets of Thorsby, with the start and finish line being at Richard Wood Park.
The entry fee for the fun run is $35 and will include an event T-shirt for each participant.
Richard Wood Park is a popular landmark in Thorsby and will be the site of the annual festival with vendor booths setup throughout the park.
Vendors can purchase a 12-by-12 space for $30 and $40 with electricity. Registration fees must be sent by Oct. 6.
Also included in the jam-packed day of events is the Swedish Fest Parade down U.S. 31 and an auto and bike show on the school grounds next to Richard Wood Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Plaques and trophies will be presented during the auto and bike show. There is a pre-registration fee of $15 and $20 on the day of the event.
