Jemison First Baptist will hold its third annual Easter Extravaganza in the Jemison City Park on April 1 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The free event will feature an egg hunt, inflatables, games, prizes, pictures with the Easter Bunny, a reading of the Easter story and a sack lunch.
All anyone needs to bring is a basket for eggs, according to Jodie Hood, children’s leader at First Baptist. Everything else will be provided by the church.
Prior to making the event for the community, the church held an Easter egg hunt for its children at a church member’s home. Three years ago, the church held its first public event and has kept the annual extravaganza since.
“We just wanted to be able to do something to open it up to the community … and share the light and love of Jesus with all that we can meet,” Hood said. “We know there’s a need in the community for a lot of kids to be able to have the opportunities that we’re used to having.”
After a full morning of activities, attendees can grab a sack lunch that will include a hot dog, chips, dessert and a drink.
The church will provide about 1,000 eggs for children to hunt and has prepared for 250 children and adults, according to Hood.
