Randal Keith Easterwood, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on March 30.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1955, in Siluria and was a huge Alabama fan.

As a teen he learned about welding from his uncle Charles and was soon an expert. He joined the Air Force in 1974 and soon became a tech sergeant, training military welders.

After the service he moved to Arizona, joining Honeywell Aerospace as a welder in 1979. Always persistent, he spent 14 years earning a bachelor’s degree (cum laude) in engineering at Arizona State University, while working full-time and raising a family.

He remained with Honeywell his entire career, becoming an engineer in the material and process engineering department and conducting training around the world, known company wide as “Mr. Weld.”

Randy also worked with and supported SkillsUSA at the state and national level, participating in welding contests for more than 25 years. A lifelong learner, he gave freely of his time and worked diligently to pass on his knowledge to co-workers and students. He touched many lives helping others build skills and self-reliance. Randy enjoyed going to the movies and spending time with grandkids, Kristine and Kaiden.

He was also a car enthusiast, attending car shows and restoring his beloved 1969 AMX and 1957 Chevy truck.

Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Wilbourn and brother, Charles Easterwood.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sherry; daughters, Kimberly, Angela, Kelly and Megan; son, Chris; 14 grandchildren; parents, Paul and Boo Easterwood; siblings, Linda, Tammy, Sherlyn, Chris, Paula, Curtis and Jackie.

A memorial service will be held on May 25 at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Alabaster Presbyterian Church. The Jemison High School Class of 1974 is encouraged to attend. The family asks that you dress casual and come prepared to share a memory. Local arrangements entrusted to the Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home of Clanton.
