Joe Herbert Gentry, 66, of Jemison passed away on April 21.

He was born on Tuesday, July 2, 1946, in Chilton County, the son of W. H. Gentry and Geneva Shelton Gentry.

He was an electrical engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Gentry of Jemison; sons, Russell Gentry (Karen) of Calera and Byron Gentry (Heather) of Jemison; grandchildren, Justin Gentry of Calera, Jill Gentry of Calera, Jennifer Gentry of Calera and Dakota Gentry of Jemison; parents, W.H. and Geneva Gentry; grandmother, Thelma Shelton; sisters, Shirley Emfinger of Jemison, Linda Cobb of Jemison, Carol Lawrence of Shelbyville, Ky. and Kelly Goodman of Brandon, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Headley.

Friends were received from 1-2 p.m. on April 22 at Macedonia Baptist Church.

Services were held on April 22 at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Hughes and the Rev. Walter Johnsey officiating.

Interment followed in Williams Cemetery in Shelby County.

The family requests no flowers but donations will be accepted to disabled veterans.
