Rebels improve to 18-2

Thorsby’s baseball team won three games this week to improve its record to 18-2.
The Rebels defeated Maplesville, 8-3, on Wednesday.
Chris Brown earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings while striking out five, and Braden McRae and Matt Morgan combined for two scoreless innings of relief.
THS struck first in the third inning. Morgan drove in two runs with a double and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Owens.
Denham Childress, who went 3-for-3 on the day, plated Bo Hoffman, and McRae singled and scored on a safety squeeze.
Hoffman hit a home run with Owens on base in the sixth inning to pad the Thorsby lead.
On Tuesday, the Rebels defeated West Blocton, 12-2.
Morgan recorded a two-run triple in the first inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Hoffman.
Parker Bryan had a run-scoring double in the second and a homer in the fifth. Owens added two RBI in the same inning.
Bryan finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI.
Morgan scored four runs, and Owens had three RBI and two runs scored.
Blake Bradberry was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits in five innings of work.
The Rebels on Monday topped Brewbaker Tech on the strength of an Owens home run.
