This year’s Central Alabama Football Camp might feel more like a combine—at least for half the day.

The camp will feature skill tests, such as the 40-yard dash, to go along with all the events from last year.

Linemen attending the camp will compete in skill challenges in the morning and the afternoon.

Skill position players will measure themselves in the 40-yard dash, pro agility test and an obstacle course, among other events, in the morning and play 7-on-7 passing games in the afternoon.

The camp will begin at 9 a.m. on June 29. Participants will break for lunch and to hear a speaker, Eric Armster with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the high school lunchroom, and the afternoon sessions will begin about 1 p.m.

Host Chilton County High School, Isabella, Jemison, Maplesville, Leeds and New Brockton will all participate.

Four 7-on-7 games will be played at the same time, two at Tiger Stadium and two at the Clanton Middle School practice field.

No score will be kept, Carter said.

“The way we look at it, we just want to compete and not even worry about winning and losing with 7-on-7,” he said.

Carter said team and individual winners could be decided, though, for the skills tests.

The games will have a 25-minute running clock. Teams will begin possessions on the 40-yard line and can get first downs at the 25 and at the 10. They will have three downs, instead of four as in a regular game, to get a first down.

Fans will be allowed to watch the activities without being charged admission.
