The Jemison City Council met for the first time as a new council on Monday with Councilman James “Jim” Henderson and Councilman Rex Bittle being sworn in to serve the city of Jemison.
In addition to the two new council members being sworn in, Mayor Eddie Reed approved a motion to appoint Sheila Hogge as the city clerk, Shane Fulmer as the chief of police, John Dennis as the chief of fire and rescue, John Hollis Jackson as the attorney for the city of Jemison, and Craig Cleckler as municipal judge.
A motion was also approved to appoint Councilman Sam Reed as mayor pro tem in the event Eddie Reed is unable to fulfill his mayoral duties.
Reed acknowledged the friends and family members that attended the meeting in support of those being sworn in to serve the city.
“I would like to thank everyone that came to the meeting tonight for our new council members and city staff,” Reed said. “We are honored to be your servants for the town of Jemison and look forward to what the next year holds.”
