Chilton not a desirable place to live

Dear editor:
Do not ever move to Chilton County, Alabama. I made a mistake of moving to North Chilton County 12 years ago.
The county commission in this county is the worst I have ever seen about doing nothing. The county’s road system is still back in the 1940s. Chilton County is the home of the dirt roads. They have no tax base in the county. They have a one-cent county sales tax, and it goes to the schools. Therefore, they have no sales tax to do anything with.
The police protection stinks on the north end of Chilton County. They are understaffed and overworked. If you need a county sheriff’s deputy in North Chilton County, your wait time might be up to 90 minutes depending on the time of day or night.
The Chilton County Commission has cut funding for the county’s animal shelter. They do not give one dime. I went to take two cats to the pound recently, and they wanted to charge me $40 per cat to leave them. Bull crap. They were not my cats; they were strays. I told the girl I was not paying $80 to leave two strays. I brought them back home, and if I do not find someone to take them, I will find another way to dispose of them. I will get a friend to take them to another county and call their animal shelter.
This county has several roads closed because of outdated bridges. They cannot find funds to fix. Poor planning and the dumb people who keep putting the same commissioners back in office still does not make sense to me.
