Linwood Hayes, age 71 of the Mineral Springs Community in Clanton, passed away on Aug. 22, 2012, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton.

He was born in Chilton County on Sept. 6, 1940, the son of the late Richard Albert Hayes and the late Julia Noah Hayes.

He was a former brick mason.

He is survived by: son, Ricky (Carla) Hayes of Maplesville; daughter, Jeanie (Randy) Strattis of Clanton; daughter, Paula Hayes of Jemison; daughter, Dena (Mike) Kromer of Clanton; daughter, Carol (Ricky) Carpenter of Clanton; son, Richard (Rachael) Hayes of Maplesville; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Essie Hayes Anderson of Clanton.

He is preceded in death by: wife, Hilda Ruth Martin Hayes; daughter, Mary Hayes Littleton; parents, Richard Albert and Julia Hayes; sister, Lucille Burns; sister, Pauline Hayes Arant; sister, Meldy Gilland; sister, Dean Hayes Roper; sister, Julia Ann Hayes Cummings; brother, Chester Hayes; brother, Bernard Hayes; and brother, Hoover Hayes.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. from Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cleckler and the Rev. Jason Rothe officiating.

The body was in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial followed in the Mineral Springs Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
