A memorial fund in honor of Haylee Burks is located at Regions Bank in Jemison.

Burks, a second grader at Jemison Elementary, was struck and killed by a car as she and her family were walking to their car after the Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show on March 31.

The driver of the vehicle, Danny Ray Smith, 64, was arrested by Northport P.D. and charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of the accident and two counts of first-degree assault.

Funeral services for Burks were held Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. from Jemison Baptist Church. Rev. Wayne Hughes, Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Billy Boatwright officiated.

Burial followed in the Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph.

Donations may still be made in Burks’ name to her memorial fund at Regions Bank.
