The North Chilton Orioles look to get back to winning ways after losing to the Pensacola Dizzy Dean All-Stars, 15-7 Monday morning.

“We’re still in it,” said coach Royce Jones. “Pensacola is one of the two toughest teams will face. We were up on them, and then some errors took us out of it.”

The Orioles are scoring runs at a torrid pace. The team has outscored opponents in the tournament 85-28. They won 15-5 against Oregon Park, 30-2 over Jackson County, Ga., beat Macedonia, Ga., 19-1, lost to Pensacola, and then beat Huffman 15-5.

Rogers said he felt the team could win the tournament if offense kept turning out runs.

“We plan on staying around,” he said. “In the last five games, we’ve hit 12 home runs, and Diquon Lane has hit seven. Will Johns has hit three. All the kids are hitting well. We’ve just got to play ball.”

North Chilton will play Limestone County at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 19 in an elimination game.
