The thunder and lightning that suspended the game for about an hour gave fans a taste of Bibb County’s rushing attack.

Friday’s game was delayed after three plays including the kickoff, and when it resumed, Jemison had no answer for their visitors’ ground game as the Choctaws rolled to a 56-6 region win.

Sixth-ranked Bibb County (4-0, 3-0 Class 4A, Region 4) racked up 233 rushing yards in the first half and finished with 410 yards on the ground, unofficially.

The Choctaws attempted one pass all night; it fell incomplete.

Senior Taylor Morton did most of the damage, running for 136 yards and two touchdowns, but he had plenty of help. Rance Gaddis, a sophomore, rushed for 106 yards and two more scores.

Jemison, starting junior Trey Bryant at quarterback in place of injured senior Scott Clements, struggled to sustain drives offensively.

The Panthers (2-2, 2-1) didn’t score until about 5 minutes remained in the game. That’s when junior Javae Swindle broke free for a 52-yard touchdown run. The point-after attempt was missed.

But Bryant performed admirably in his first start, which came against a tough opponent. Bryant connected on 11 of 16 pass attempts, including six straight to begin the game, for 102 yards.

Junior Eddie Hubbard caught five of those passes for 39 yards.

Swindle was Jemison’s most productive offensive player, rushing 17 times for 136 yards.

Sophomore Kevin King ran five times for 32 yards after the outcome had been decided.
