No change will be made to the 2011 Peach Parade route.

The Clanton City Council had discussed changing the route to avoid blocking traffic on U.S. 31, but decided to take some time and consider potential routes more closely before making a change.

“The change will affect all parades, and before they make a change they want to make sure everything is correct,” said David Hicks, a Clanton police officers who helps organize the parade. “They don’t want to have to change it more than once.”

The parade route will go down Alabama 145 from the Fred’s parking lot to U.S. 31 and back up Sixth Street.

This year’s parade starts at 9 a.m. Among the many participants in the parade will be the 2011 Peach Queens and their alternates.
