Don’t let bad apples ruin it for everyone

I read with interest the article about Chilton Medical Center achieving Tier 1 status. I was disappointed that the Advertiser staff decided to disable comments on the Web site regarding this story.
The end result of that was people going into other stories’ comment areas and making comments about the hospital.
The Advertiser needs to monitor the comments and continue to delete the improper ones and ban the users who continue to make them rather than disabling legitimate comments on stories.
Personally, I acknowledge that CMC has had its bumps along the way, and it cannot be expected to compete with UAB or Jackson for advanced procedures, but in my experience the staff is competent and professional.
My wife and I have both been in for severe cases of the flu and were treated well. A few years ago, I rushed my wife there because she was suffering severe dehydration due to stomach flu. She was so dehydrated that they could not read her blood pressure. It was less than 50 using palpation.
They tried for over 15 minutes to start an I and were finally able to get one into her carotid artery.
I have no doubt that the ER staff saved her life that morning.
Recently, I took her in for an ankle sprain on a Saturday evening. It took longer to fill out the forms than it took for her to get seen. She was in and out in less than 60 minutes.
CMC deserves credit for the good work they perform. If the Advertiser is going to allow comments on articles on the Web site, they should not remove that capability due to a few bad apples that are down on everything that is published.
