Taco Bell robbed over weekend

Clanton Police are looking for a suspect who robbed Clanton’s Taco Bell early Saturday morning using the restaurant’s drive-through window.
According to reports, a black male in his late teens or early 20s drove up to the window in a dark colored Ford Crown Victoria about 12:10. The suspect was armed with a small black handgun and held a window clerk at gunpoint, taking an undetermined amount of currency.
The man reportedly had hazel eyes and short dreadlocks, and was wearing a white T-shirt. Ironically, the vehicle was thought to be an old police car. The vehicle also had no hubcaps.
Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell said the city has seen an increase in robberies this summer.
“While we have been able to show a decrease in most other areas, we have shown an increase in robberies near the Interstate,” he said. “We’re beefing up patrols down there.”
While Saturday’s incident may seem unconventional, Stilwell cited a recent case in which a suspect of a different description attempted to rob the Clanton Zaxby’s location through the drive-through window.
The walk-in section of Taco Bell was reportedly already locked Saturday morning at the time of the incident.
The case remains under investigation.
