Thorsby police chief Rodney Barnett has advised residents to be aware of a pair of vehicle break-ins that have taken place recently.
Barnett warned the public by sending out a Facebook post on July 7.
The break-ins occurred in the areas of Iowa Avenue and West Medical Center Drive.
According to Barnett, TPD officers are patrolling the neighborhoods in question in search of any suspicious activity.
Despite an increased police presence, Barnett stressed that one of the best ways to prevent such criminal behavior is for residents to be fully aware of their surroundings and watch out for each other.
“Neighbors watching out for neighbors is a powerful deterrent,” Barnett said.
Residents are asked to call 911 to report any suspicious vehicles or people they witness in their neighborhoods.
There are certain steps that can be taken to help prevent a possible vehicle break-in.
“Do not leave keys inside your vehicles or hidden on your vehicle,” Barnett said. “Do not leave valuables in sight.”
No arrests have been made in connection with the break-ins.
