Chilton County residents have a new opportunity to show off their furry friend’s fashion sense during the Doggie Fashion Show at Senior Connection on June 27 at 11 a.m.
The opportunity is open to dogs of any breed and owners of any age.
Senior Connection director Vanessa McKinney said the event was being held as a way to raise funds for the Humane Society of Chilton County.
Entry fee is $25.
Owners will lead dogs on a leash to present them during the show.
“It’s a cute idea,” McKinney said.
The registration application asks what the pet enjoys doing, its favorite food and a description of the outfit.
Although the event is taking place during Peach Week, outfits can have any theme desired.
McKinney said there are several ideas and patterns that can be found on the internet.
The dogs and their outfits will be judged on “originality and creativity, and we’ll score one through 10 on (each), poise and presentation and talent and the crowd appeal,” McKinney said. Walter Hayden is donating a trophy for the overall winner.
McKinney said she is looking forward to a good turnout.
The deadline to register is June 20. Registration applications can be picked up at Senior Connection in Park Plaza, the Humane Society of Chilton County at 139 Shade Tree Drive in Clanton and Southern Dixie Auto at 1808 Seventh Street in Clanton.
Prior to the Doggie Fashion Show, Senior Connection will celebrate their birthday brunch with God’s Deliverance Band playing at 10 a.m.
