The Thorsby Town Council held a public hearing to discuss the zoning status of property owned by Charles Tanner.

Councilman Glenn Littleton motioned to have the property’s zoning changed from residential medium density to agricultural. Councilman Marvin Crumpton seconded the motion.

The change was officially passed with a 3-2 vote. Littleton, Crumpton and Neil Benson voted in favor, while Chastity Chapman and Marilyn Collins voted against.

The Council also approved the town’s sanitary sewer overflow response plan, which is required by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

The plan has always been in place, but ADEM now requires it to go through the process of being approved by the Council.

Patrick Young was hired to fill a vacancy as school resource officer at Thorsby School.

It was approved to pay the town’s bills.
