Sallie Gowan Speaks, 88, of Clanton died Saturday, November 17, 2018.

She was born Tuesday, September 23, 1930, in Chilton Co., AL, daughter of the late Dr. Jesse Earl Gowan and the late Ruth Johnson Gowan.

She was a legal secretary.

Surviving are daughters, Susan (Steve) Johnson, Ellen (Spencer) Traywick;  sons, Bill (Valerie) Speaks, Chris (Janine) Speaks;  grandchildren, Bryan Prescott, Portia (Rich) Radocha, Gavin Speaks, Trey (Sarah) Speaks, Taylor Speaks, Spence Traywick, Katherine Speaks, Will Traywick, Lilly Speaks; great-grandchild, Isabelle Speaks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Williams Speaks.

Friends will be received from 9 – 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Martin Chapel.

Services will be Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Martin Chapel with Rev. Matt DeBord and Rev. Jay Hurd officiating.

Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama.
