Willie Mae Hancock Lenoir, 81, of Clanton, Alabama passed away November 7, 2018 after a long battle with COPD.

Willie was born November 30, 1936 in Macon County, AL, to William Rufus Hancock and Jessie Mae Choran Hancock. She was a 1955 graduate of Macon County High School. After high school, she was a beautician with her sister at Doris’s Beauty Salon in Clanton from 1958-1977. In 1977, Willie was appointed the first cosmetology instructor at LeCroy Vocational Center for the Chilton County School System. She retired in 1997. Many beloved students passed through her program and became successful salon owners. She continued to have a passion for her profession.

Willie was also a member of First United Methodist Church where she was involved in the Chancel Choir and United Methodist Women’s organization.

Willie is preceded in death by her parents, William Rufus and Jessie Mae Hancock; brothers, Rufus Hancock, Jr., Clyde Hancock and Bruce Hancock; sisters, Mary Phillips, Doris Smyer and Betty Dillard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dale; sons, Tommy (Suzanne) and Lance (Kimberly); and grandchildren, Phillip Lenoir, Will Lenoir, Sarah Elizabeth Hyde and Mary Ashford Hyde.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018. The family will receive visitors from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with service following at First United Methodist Church on 8th Street North in Clanton. Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Cemetery.
