The Perfect Note Jazz Festival is coming back to Clanton on Nov. 3 at Senior Connection.

The festival is in its second year and will bring together 40 Jazz musicians from throughout Alabama.

Bands will include Will Wetzel Trio, the Prime Suspects, the Birmingham Nouveau Reinhardt Group, the Usual Suspects and Chuck King and the Swing Kings.

“We really appreciate the cooperation and support of Vanessa McKinney, her staff and the great volunteers at Senior Connection. We couldn’t do this without all their help,” said Mike Schiermann of Clanton, one of the festival’s organizers.

The day will offer fun for the whole family.

“The music starts at 10 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. We were really glad to see that the Alabama/LSU game would be scheduled in prime time that evening, so there’s no reason to miss any of the fun,” Schiermann said. “And we’re leaving the modern jazz and smooth jazz to the big city festivals. This event is all about traditional, swinging good-time music from the 1920s, ’30s, ’40s and ’50s. These players will cover the gamut from New Orleans to Dixieland to Big Band Swing.”

Visual art will also be on display and for sale.

According to a press release, “The featured guest of honor at the art show is Clanton’s Scarlett Teel, whose reputation as an artist and teacher is well-known throughout the state.”

“It was wonderful last year,” Teel said. “I enjoyed every moment of it.”

She said she enjoyed listening to the music and hearing “the exclamations of the people coming to listen and reacting to the music.”

A variety of local food trucks will be set up outside Senior Connection throughout the day.

“Food trucks have signed on to provide a delicious variety of goodies for the crowds, ranging from funnel cakes and corn dogs to pizza, burgers, hot dogs and much more. The food trucks will be outside at the curb in front of Senior Connection while the music and art show take place inside,” Schiermann said.

Perfect Note Jazz Festival is coordinated and sponsored by Senior Connection, the City of Clanton, the Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild and the “In the Mood” radio program.

Senior Connection is located at 304 Park Plaza in Clanton.
