Nicholas said an RSVP is not required for this event, just show up.

Hidden Meadow’s variety of wine will be available for purchase by the bottle.

The Hidden Meadow Vineyard and Winery is located at 664 County Road 606 in Jemison.

Fundraising is a focus for the Humane Society board of directors as it looks to long-term goals.

During the October board meeting, Board President Lee Helms said the recent golf tournament raised a little over $2,000. He commented that the participants donated any prizes won back to the organization and said they really enjoyed the event.

Helms said some larger fundraisers are in the works to add to a recent donation of $200,000 toward a new animal shelter.

The board is also actively looking for a new location.

During the month of August, the animal shelter had 206 animals come in to the shelter. Of this total, 57 were strays and 149 were brought in by their owners.

These animals included more than just cats and dogs. Shelter director Jennifer Fesmire said the shelter also received two parakeets. Two donkeys were also still at the shelter from a previous month. The parakeets were sent to an animal rescue organization the same day they were received. The shelter staff also thinks it has found a home for the donkeys.
