Chilton County High School erupted for 15 runs during a softball victory on the road against county rival Isabella April 5.

It was the second-most runs that CCHS had scored on the season.

All but one of the Tigers’ runs came in three innings. CCHS scored six in the second and four more in the fourth and seventh innings.

The teams were fairly even in hits with the Tigers outhitting Isabella 12-10.

However, eight errors by the Mustangs did not help the cause and contributed to the game becoming a one-sided affair.

Emily Easterling went 3-for-5 with an RBI from the leadoff spot for the Tigers, while Jayda Jones and Trinity Cox each had three hits to lead Isabella.

Five CCHS batters finished with multiple hits in the game. Eighth grader Marlie Giles was one of them with a three-run homer to left field in the fifth inning.

Lexi Owens had a pair of hits for the Mustangs, both doubles.

With both teams seeing the ball well at the plate, it was up to the pitchers to work around the hot bats.

Freshman Hallie Ousley provided the consistency that CCHS was looking for. She pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and three earned runs allowed.

Despite Jones’ big night at the plate for Isabella, she struggled to find a groove as the starting pitcher and did not make it out of the second inning.

Cox came in to pitch the rest of the game for the Mustangs. She allowed four earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.

CCHS improved to a record of 10-10 with the win, while Isabella dropped to 4-6.
