The Maplesville Red Devils baseball team continues to swing the bats with confidence following an 11-3 victory on the road against Greensboro on March 26.

Eleven runs may seem like a lot, but it was actually below Maplesville’s season average of 13.6 runs per game.

That shows the scoring pace that the Red Devils (15-1) have maintained since the season’s first pitch.

“We’ve been swinging the bats well the last three weeks,” Maplesville head coach Clay Entrekin said. “We have had good approaches in understanding the count and having a mental approach in every situation.”

Against Greensboro the Red Devils were able to jump out to a 4-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first and second innings.

After Greensboro cut Maplesville’s margin to two, the Red Devils were quick to respond with four runs in the fourth inning.

Christin Brown tripled and also came in to score as part of the big fourth inning.

Brent Schoener went 3-for-4 at the plate in the game, while Jackson Abbott and Wallace Hobbs led the team with three RBIs each.

The Red Devils were not only aggressive at the plate but also on the base paths with eight stolen bases on the day.

Brown started on the mound and got the win after three strong innings in which he struck out six batters and allowed no earned runs on three hits.

Steven Gray pitched four innings of no-hit ball in relief to preserve the victory. He finished with four strikeouts.
