The second suspect in an attempted murder case from a Jan. 20 Wade Street shooting in Clanton has been arrested.
Andrekus Jawuan Wooley, 22, of Millbrook, was apprehended by U.S. Marshals at a convenience store in Lauderdale County around 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 23, according to the Clanton Police Department.
Wooley was taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Chilton County Jail.
According to records, Wooley faces two charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and two charges of armed street robbery.
The first suspect, 23-year-old Willie Edward Reeves of Montgomery, was arrested on Jan. 20 at the tail end of a vehicle pursuit and “short foot pursuit” that followed, according to a CPD press release.
A firearm matching the description of the weapon fired at a 34-year-old male victim earlier in the day was located inside the vehicle, which had been abandoned by the two suspects in an Autauga County median.
Wooley escaped into the woods on foot, law enforcement pursuing with several near misses in the area of Autauga County Roads 20 and 68.
A dog team from the Alabama Department of Corrections lost Wooley’s scent along Autauga County Road 68, from where it was discovered the suspect had been given a ride to a Coosada address.
The search was called off at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 after several residence checks availed no subject.
A description and information pertaining to Wooley’s last known address were then released to the public in an effort to “make him famous,” according to a CPD Facebook post.
“We would like to say thanks to the media outlets that assisted in getting the information out which led to several tips on the subjects whereabouts,” CPD posted after Wooley’s arrest.
