Jimmy Martin has qualified and will run once again to be elected for the Alabama House of Representatives as the District 42 seat.
Martin will run as a republican and will look to remain as the state’s representation for Chilton and Autauga Counties.
It will be the second consecutive election that he has run on the Republican ticket, since switching from the Democratic Party prior to the 2014 election, which Martin won.
He is 79 years old and represented the county that he calls home from 1998 to 2010, before assuming office once again in 2014.
During the last four years, Martin was a member of four House of Representatives committees, which included commerce and small business, financial services, insurance, and rules.
Martin is a co-owner of Martin Funeral Home in Clanton, and has been connected to Chilton County not just as a politician, but also as a businessman for quite some time.
The Republican primary will be June 5 and followed by the general election Nov. 6.
