Care Net of Chilton, a pregnancy resource center, is hosting a donor thank-you event at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 at First Baptist Church, located at 210 Sixth Street North Clanton.

The event will feature desserts and finger foods, and a special program delivered by Pastor Matt DeBord of the First Baptist Church.

Care Net of Chilton Executive Director Susan Scott described the event as a great opportunity to learn about the nonprofit women’s center.

“This is a big community event for us,” Scott said. “We’d just like for everybody to come, if they’re just interested at all.”

Individuals interested in volunteering might find the event beneficial, as well, Scott said.

Care Net is a Christian national organization that provides services and hope to women who are or may be experiencing a crisis pregnancy, according to Scott.

Scott said the Chilton location opened in September 2006 to minister to women of Chilton County and any others who may need the resources provided by the center.

“Our desire is to help you through the crisis of an unplanned pregnancy, helping to bring restoration of broken relationships and to help women learn to be a great parent to their child,” according to ChiltonWomensCenter.com.

Some services include free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds to qualifying individuals, and counseling for women as well as their families and significant others.

Scott said the thank-you event aims to express gratitude to donors and other supporters of the nonprofit, while presenting hope to women in crisis and providing opportunity for further contribution to the ministry.

“It’s a thank-you, but we always take donations. There will be a jar or a basket or something out for that… If they want to put a donation on a credit card or an e-check, we take it all,” Scott said.

Care Net of Chilton is located at 1622 Seventh Street North, Suite 132 in Clanton. For more information about the center, visit ChiltonWomensCenter.com.
