Gene “Coach” Cost
Gene “Coach” Cost, 85, of Jemison died Tuesday, April 18 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Alabaster.
He was born on Saturday, March 19, 1932 in Chilton County, son of the late Otis Vernon Cost and the late Carrie Mae Rutherford.
He was a teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle H. Cost of Jemison; daughters, Teresa Davis (Mickey) of Jemison, Shelia Benson (Davy) of Thorsby, and Ginger Colburn (Daniel) of Thorsby; sisters, Faye Powell of Clanton, and Peggy Marcus of Thorsby; grandsons, Chase Benson (Catrina) of Thorsby, and Brett Benson (Kimberly) of Thorsby; granddaughters, Brooke Cooney (Ron) of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Julie Bentley (Clay) of Thorsby; great-grandchildren, Hannah Benson, Emily Cooney, Kourtney Benson, Lily Benson, Joshua Cooney, Brooks Bentley, Anna Bell Bentley, Abby Ross Bentley, Trevor Cooney, and Aubrey Cooney.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Cost; mother, Carrie Mae Rutherford; sister, Vernette Powell; and brother, Lamar Cost.
Friends will be received from 10-11 a.m., Friday, April 21 at Jemison First Baptist Church.
Services will be held Friday, April 21 at 11 a.m. at Jemison First Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Cooney officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens, Jemison.
