Addie Stabler Mitchell
Addie Stabler Mitchell, Ph.D., retired professor of English and director of the reading center at Morehouse College in Atlanta from 1954-1987, was born on May 22, 1918, and transitioned to her heavenly reward on Holy Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
The immediate family includes her sister, Ardella Stabler Jennings; her daughter, Edwina Mitchell Stanley, Ed.D.; three grandchildren, LaTonya Mitchell, Quentin Stanley (wife, Kimberly), and Nakisha Stanley; two nieces, Utamu Onaje and Carletta Jennings Sutton (husband, Michael); and two great-grandchildren, Zachary Stanley and Chloe Stanley.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 19 from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Raymond Full Gospel Baptist Church in Palmetto, Florida. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. on the campus of Morehouse College in the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel.
