Chilton County United Way held a luncheon to recognize donors and announce its campaign goal for 2017.

The Chilton County United Way reached its goal of $150,000 in donations this year thanks to numerous individual and business donors from across the county.

“This [board] is committed to making you proud of your United Way because we are all proud of United Way, what we stand for and what we are able to do for Chilton County,” chairperson Yolanda Boggs said.

Boggs thanked all the donors for their help in funding the agencies supported by the United Way. She thanked the agencies for their commitment to serving Chilton County.

The United Way highlighted a few of the agencies it supports. Butterfly Bridge, Kelsey’s Place and Raleigh’s Place were recognized for their work with children and young people. The Humane Society was recognized for their commitment to animals.

Sharon King, co-founder of Raleigh’s Place, was the guest speaker at the luncheon.

Raleigh’s Place provides foster care and has served more than 200 children. The organization started a summer camp for foster children in 2013, and it has since grown dramatically, according to King.

Representatives from many of the agencies that supported the United Way were in attendance and were recognized for their contributions.

The United Way announced that its campaign goal for 2017 is $175,000.
