Emotions were just as high as the score on senior night at Chilton County High School.

The Tigers cruised past Marbury 72-55 and completed a perfect night after the girls defeated the Bulldogs 58-55 in the prior game.

“Tonight was all about having fun and making the most of the memories as a team,” senior Jaylan Martin said. “Just trying to take it all in, because we’ll never be able to do it again. I’ll be able to tell my kids about this one day.”

It was a balanced game scoring with Donte Davis leading the way with 14 points and four assists.

Fellow seniors Keshawn Williams and Damian Wilson also contributed 11 and nine points, respectively.

Chilton County connected on six 3-pointers on the night, including a pair of fourth quarter treys by Keundae Childers, which brought the bench to its feet.

As a team, the Tigers combined for 11 steals and forced Marbury into other errant passes that resulted into turnovers.

Seven seniors took part in the senior night festivities before the game.

According to Davis, he first realized the magnitude of senior night once the final buzzer sounded on the girls game prior to the ceremony.

“You just want to put on a good show for the crowd,” Davis said.

A lasting memory of the senior class will be capturing three straight county tournament titles during their high school careers.

“It’s been a privilege and an honor to coach these guys over the years,” Chilton County head coach Deon Timmons said. “I have a lot of respect for them.”

The team’s moto throughout the season has been “one bounce, one heartbeat,” which the senior class helped create and solidify both on and off the court.

“Because of basketball, we built a bond that can’t be broken,” Davis said.
