Isabella girls outlast Jemison

The Isabella Mustangs varsity girls picked up a 38-34 road win against Jemison on Tuesday night.
Cassani Steele would put the first points of the game on the board at the 5:32 mark of the first period, but was quickly answered by a basket from Synia Chattman.
A free throw and basket from Averie Porter gave the Panthers a three-point lead and with a basket from Steele, the Panthers took a 7-2 lead.
Erristen Evans made the Panther lead seven before three baskets from Chattman and a three from Hailey Underwood gave the Mustangs a 11-9 lead at the end of the
first.
Cassani Steele tied the game at 11 to start the second and with back-to-back baskets from Kiara Steele, the Panthers took a 15-11 lead.
Chattman cut the lead to two while Underwood would cut it to one just before the half, 17-16 Panthers. The Panthers started the early seconds of the third with a three-point lead but baskets by Emily Booth and Kiara Ford put the Mustangs out in front by one. Baskets by Ford and Chattman extended the Isabella lead to five before a three from Breagan Franklin put a stop to the Mustangs run.
Ford answered with a three for Isabella that would kick off a 7-0 Isabella run that saw the third period end with the Mustangs leading 34-26.
Consecutive baskets from Kiara Steele to start the fourth drew the Panthers to within four, but four points from Chattman again
made the Isabella lead eight.
Steele would once again work to cut the Mustang lead to four with 1:46 to play, but with little help for the Panthers leading scorer, and Jemison came up short.
Chattman led the Mustangs with 18 points, five rebounds, seven steals and a block. Kiara Steele led Jemison with 12 points, 15 rebounds and a steal.
