CLANTON —The Chilton County High School Key Club is asking for the public’s help collecting new slip-resistant socks for residents at Hatley Health Care & Rehabilitation.

Key club president Aaron Binion said the club had visited residents to play bingo earlier this month.

This trip sparked the idea for the club collecting gifts for the residents. Binion said a staff member commented that the residents like socks, and it is not something they often receive.

The club has set a goal of 150 pairs of slip-resistant socks. This would provide a pair for each of the residents with some left over. The club began collecting the socks a few weeks ago.

Binion said the club has extended its collection deadline to Dec. 2.

Those wanting to make a donation “can email me or bring them to the high school office,” Binion said. (The high school office will be closed until Nov. 28.)

Binion can be reached at baaron.binion@gmail.com.

He said he hopes the community will choose to participate in this giving opportunity.

The club is going to pick a date and distribute the socks to residents at Hatley before school lets out for Christmas.

This is the second year for Key Club at CCHS. Binion has served as president of the club since the beginning of this school year. Key Club is the high school club of Kiwanis International.
