PLANTERSVILLE – The Class 1A Maplesville Red Devils traveled to Plantersville on Friday, Sept. 23 to take on 5A Dallas County.

The Red Devils came into this matchup averaging 53 points per game, which puts them as one of the highest in that category in the state, and the offense wouldn’t disappoint.

Maplesville fell one point short of their average scoring just 52 points this week and also gave up their first points of the season after shutting out their first three opponents. The good thing is they only gave up 14 and would knock off the Hornets 52-14 to move their record to 4-0 overall on the season and 3-0 in area play.

After winning back-to-back state championships, head coach Brent Hubbert couldn’t have asked for a better start to his season than what his guys have done. They are already well on their way to another playoff berth and the favorite in Class 1A as they have held the number one ranking throughout the season.

Maplesville will host the Northview Chiefs, who will be traveling from Florida on Friday, Sept. 20. The Chiefs are 2-2 at the moment and have given up 70 and 42 points in each of their losses, which bodes well for the Red Devils who have a potent offense.
