FROM STAFF REPORTS

Brooke Elliott has been teaching at Jemison High School for 17 years and she was recently selected as the 2016 Jemison High School Teacher of the Year.

At the Sept. 7, JHS faculty meeting, Elliott was presented a “Teacher of the Year” ring in recognition of this honor.

Elliott currently teaches introduction to engineering design, biomedical engineering environments sustainability and automation and robotics.

“I am blessed to have served at a school where I love the faculty, staff, students, parents and community. This is where I did my student teaching, and have spent most of my career,” Ms. Elliott said. “What I love about JHS is that we are always striving to do better for our students to prepare them for the future using the best of what we are given. I am excited to be part of what is going on with Jemison High School right now. We have evolved over the years to focus on our students’ needs, and I believe we are on track more than ever to reach our goals. The resilience of our faculty and students to stay competitive on a national level has allowed me many opportunities to serve in education.”

JHS Principal Diane Calloway said Elliott is deserving of this honor and said she is very pleased she is a part of Jemison High School.
